riginally from Edinburgh, Scotland and having spent twenty-nine years in Montreal, Eilean now lives in Marmora, Ontario. She has worked as a free-lance artist and illustrator since 1984.
Spending countless hours in the Scottish countryside as a child she was immediately aware of her innate kinship with nature and, encouraged by her architect father, she began drawing at an early age. Her passions for Nature, Music, History and Literature are ongoing and more recently she studied Biological Illustration at McGill University. Her works have won prizes in various judged exhibitions and hang in private collections. She has also designed logos for The Nichoir Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Hudson, Quebec and for a Canadian Pharmaceutical Research Company’s international marketing campaign in South Korea.
Drawing inspiration from her immediate environment, works of literature and music along with the people she meets Eilean’s main focus is on the amazing creatures with which we are privileged to share our world. Her preferred style is realistic with a leaning toward the fantastic and working in pastel, pencil, pen and ink, water colour and clay sculpture, her aim is to evoke passion, compassion and respect for the inherent simplicity and magic in all living things - ultimately opening our eyes to the synchronicity and beauty of all life forms.
Eilean will be happy to discuss your ideas to create a personalized, original and affordable work which reflects your passions and accentuates your home or office environment.
